After a lengthy session of Sheldon Borenstein videos (such a cool dude!) on the fundamentals of drawing I realised that I need even more lengthy sessions of both videos and drawing! Why? because PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
Mr. Borenstein emphasised that drawing/painting, hell everything revolves around three shapes. Circle, cylinder, square. I immediately failed at producing a basic cylinder shape in the form of a glass before returning to portraits and what have you. The snake thing on the bottom right clearly started life as a shark (the protruded inner jaw and teeth give it away... kinda) but then it looked more like a snake so yeah. I then decided to try and shape out a shark with the proportions as close to normal as possible. That is really important, I have discovered. To get everything to be where it's supposed to be. Once they, vaguely, are you start "seeing" it in your head giving you more freedom to "flesh" it out on paper better. Always starting with the basic shape/s!

The fantasy element had to creep in somehow hence this knight-person-dude here. Clearly not some gallant warrior seeing how both his arms are messed up AND he has no legs.
"All right, we'll call it a draw-ing". Ugh, painful joke...
I apologise to my cat in advance. Miura, you are much more beautiful than that. But yes, I attempted to apply basic shapes in order to shape out parts of her head using a picture of her I have on my phone. I asked her to model but she was having none of it.
The same goes for the Ankh up top. Basic shapes! As always, attention to proportions is important (note to self). I also decided drawing a car and for the life of me I do not know why I went with a pick-up truck...
The symbol on the lower right is the logo of Cyberdog. I always liked it due to the whole "Anubis" thing going on there. I attempted it twice, starting differently each time to see which of the two initial shapes helped me better in order to complete it as close to normal as possible.
Thankfully my guitar is an inanimate object, therefore an apology is not in order.
I'll be watching more videos in the days to come, maybe even dabble in some anatomy!
